LOVE THE CHILDREN - - - ALL GOD'S CHILDREN!

"The mission and purpose of existing for Love the Children is to multiply the love sources for all children with special attention being given to children in broken and impaired families. LTC is committed to helping parents show love for their children and helping faith groups and other groups within society, in general, implement initiatives to show more love to their children, to children at risk due to destructive family relationships, and to all other children including adults who have special needs and those mentioned in Matthew 25:35-45.

"There is a serious problem of too many children in the United States feeling as though they are not loved. They conclude that something is wrong with themselves or that the world owes them something. Their lowered self-esteem lowers their goals in life, lowers the quality of their efforts, and lowers their achievement for life.

"Love the Children will inspire, train, and organize faith groups, social clubs, professional associations, retirement associations, and others in the advancement of the goals of saving our children. For these complex problems, Love the Children will multiply love with the concept of compounding interest. Groups which have been served will serve others and help those others to serve still others who will repeat the process until our children are secure, our families are successful, our society is safe, and the world is fit for every human being to thrive and contribute all they wish to contribute for the greater good of mankind. That’s what Love the Children is about."

What can you do for your children and their futures?

What can you do for the children of others?

What can your church or other social organization do for children?

Don't just sit there, LOVE THEM and give them evidence of your love!

A VERY SPECIAL MINISTRY

God has given me several special ministries in my semi-retirement years.  One is Nursing Home Visitation.  I am currently visiting six nursing homes each week to.  My purpose is to let these dear souls know that they have not been forgotten.  I have visited some every week for the past several years.  Some have been over 100 years old and many above eighty.  Some have clear minds and inspire me with their words of wisdom.  Some may not remember me from week to week and some may not know of my presence.  But I am always richly blessed as I acknowledge them as God's children and pray  with and for them.  As you consider service for our Master, consider a ministry for those who may have been forgotten.  Consider senior citizens, those with disabilities, sick children, foster children, those of any age who may need a word of encouragement, a smile, a look of compassion, a touch on the hand, or a reminder that God loves them, Jesus died for them, and is coming soon to save them into His everlasting kingdom.

GUIDANCE FOR WISE PROFESSIONALS IN A CROOKED WORLD

for

Those Who Wish to Achieve Success the Old Fashioned Way

by

Clarence E. Hodges, Servant

By authority vested in me by years of challenging opportunities around the world with wise and otherwise leaders, I hereby counsel you to:

KEEP HEALTHY physically, mentally, socially, economically, spiritually which includes keeping physically fit.

KEEP good friends, keep in touch with family, friends, and your network

KEEP out of debt, away from illicit drugs; avoid that which has destroyed others. Avoid unhealthy relations and that trap or charge of sexual harassment.

KEEP a diary. You will forget so many important details of events which will grow in importance as time passes. Keep lists of things to do and DO them.

SHARE your opinions without being opinionated.

SHARE the credit. You did not do it all by yourself.

DON’T KEEP grudges. They will weigh you down and make you bitter.

DON’T KEEP UP with the proverbial "Joneses."

KEEP your faith in mankind and your Higher Power. Remember what you learned from parents, grandparents, and your special role models.

BE a good listener. What you have to say is very important but if it does not get said this time, the world will continue its rotation.

BE sensitive to the feelings of others. You do not want to walk in their shoes.

PROTECT your integrity by never leaving home without it.

SERVE with love and love to serve.

KEEP LOOKING UP IF YOU ARE CLIMBING and look down if you are descending. The power to reach your goals is in your mind. You can get there. As you think, you can!

Ask for a task.
Live to give;
serve with love.
Follow your Savior above.

Heaven is within;
but you are  without.
You can enter in,
as you overcome doubt.

Let go of your blues,
accept the good news.
Trust in the REAL KING.
He can supply everything.

Impossibilities are your probabilities
when you give
your disaster
to  the Master.

Go for the gold
whether young or old.
Don't abandon the race;
With Christ, you have 1st place.

A life in line
could save mine

To save a child
could save your life a while

Organize mess
to relieve stress

Preparation for Service

by

Clarence E. Hodges

We have opportunities to learn new lessons every day.  A wise person can learn from a fool but the fool fails to learn even from the wise genius.

Look for object lessons everywhere.  Learn from the aged, the young, the professional, the skilled, from animals from the elephant to the ant, even the plants from the rose to the fruit tree.

There is no greater challenge than the challenge of learning.  Learn to better serve our Lord and His needy children.  And as we serve, we will see fewer problems in our path and cease to complain about the unfairness of life.  Learn and live and serve.  That is the solution to our problems.  One day you may learn that was the potential source of wealth for you while you suffered in poverty.  Lift up your head.  You will never reach the mountain top with your head down or with your empty hand out.

The life of Christ was one of sacrifice and service. He made a difference in the world greater than all the contributions of mankind. He was the worlds greatest Teacher and He has chosen to be our Teacher if we are willing students. He has taught us to live without mistakes and therefore without the consequences of such. And even when we make mistakes, He has a plan for erasing them. He wants to blot them out with His precious blood. He wishes to educate us so we can educate others. He will work through us to achieve His will in others. The dedicated educated will be duplicated and His kingdom will be enlarged.

He can solve your problems.  You cannot.  Turn them over to Him.

                  CHRISTIAN LAWYERS PRACTICE
                                         FAITH

by

Clarence E. Hodges

For many years it has been suggested in some religious circles that good Christians cannot be good lawyers and good lawyers cannot be good Christians. That has never been true. There is nothing in the practice of law which requires one to perform any service which violates the commands of God or the examples of Jesus. However, it is true that too many attorneys have established reputations which suggest that they value money and verdicts above integrity and justice. It is, therefore, refreshing to see Christians who practice law while practicing their religion and serve as excellent role models for talented and ambitious youth.

Attorney Clifton R. Jessup, Jr. of Dallas, Texas is one of those Christian attorneys who is blessed of God and praised by leaders in his church. He is also very favorably viewed in and outside his profession. He is a prominent public speaker, informing and inspiring conferences of judges and continuing education seminars for lawyers. He also preaches the gospel as a lay preacher, advancing the principles of justice, fairness, and righteousness by faith.

He has represented secured creditors, unsecured creditors, committees, equity holders, debtors, and trustees in federal bankruptcy cases in over 35 states. He began his practice in the year that the Bankruptcy Reform Act of 1978 went into effect and has participated in the development of bankruptcy law around the country.

In 2001, he was selected as the Liquidating Trustee under the confirmed Chapter 11 Plan in the Baptist Foundation of Arizona, the largest not-for-profit bankruptcy case filed to date. The cases involve 11,000 investors and claims in excess of $600 million. Jessup was also appointed as Examiner in the Tri-Union Development Corporation case, a mult-million dollar oil and gas development company, pending in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas.

He is recognized for his expertise in business law, bankruptcy law, creditor’s rights, and corporate reorganization. He was named as one of America’s Top Black Lawyers in Black Enterprise Magazine in 2003; as one of Texas’ Super Lawyers by Texas Monthly in 2004; as Master in the John C. Ford American Inns of Court, and listed in Best Lawyers in America.

As a student graduating from Oakwood College in 1976, it was known by classmates and faculty that Clifton Jessup, Jr. would excel. He was a serious student with his priorities in order and he graduated summa cum laude. The quality education and discipline of a Christian institution helped prepare him for success with integrity in a world of greed and compromise. He praises Oakwood College and the college has honored him by inviting him to serve on its Board of Trustees. Further proof of this great relationship between the attorney and Oakwood is the fact that his son, Clifton R. Jessup, III, is now a student at Oakwood.

Eardell Rashford has thought in a community-oriented manner since her teen years. Born in Harlem, she grew up with a desire to help others in a way that would make a big difference. This desire grew until she decided to study law. After graduating from Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama, she went to law school at Howard University in Washington, DC. From there she returned to work in New York City as an attorney and has been working for local government for most of the past 20 years. Rashford is of the mind-set that her talents are on loan from God, and therefore she uses them to help others by doing volunteer work in the community and the church while spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. Her philosophy is, "I am happiest when I am helping others help themselves." This has led to her selection as a judge in New York City. As an influential judge, she now has opportunities to help more individuals and to more effectively serve the City and society in general. She is making a difference. She serves on several boards in the interest of law, women, and youth.

She is a role model for young black females and her role models are Moses of the Old Testament and her father Samuel Rashford. She recognizes the importance of the father in a young person’s life, in the home, and in the church. More men could see more successful children if they would make the necessary sacrifices to be a part of their children’s lives, a part of the family, and a part of the church. Oakwood College made a significant contribution to her success and further rewarded her by inviting her to serve on the college board of trustees. She was again honored by her selection as Alumnus of the Year. She sees perseverance, determination, prayer, and humility as very helpful traits in the character of a Christian lawyer,.

The Honorable Sheila Jackson Lee, member of the United States Congress, was a recent motivational and inspirational speaker to the students, faculty, and staff of Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama. She electrified the audience with human interest experiences from her recent travels to Ethiopia, Europe, and Iraq. As a member of Congress for the last ten years, she has made a mark on the Judiciary Committee, the Science Committee, the Homeland Security Committee, the Congressional Black Caucus, and in the interest of children and families. She has been an effective voice for religious freedom.

Congresswoman Jackson Lee received her BA Degree from Yale University and her Law Degree from the University of Virginia. She sees patience, kindness, persistence, prayer, resilience, and love as essential traits for a successful Christian attorney. She has served as a an attorney, a hard working city counsel member, and an outstanding judge. She has served on the Oakwood College Board of Trustees. As a member of the House Committee on Science, and the Committee on Homeland Security, she has helped Historically Black Colleges get involved in the space program and has been supportive of our national space programs. Oakwood College and other higher educational institutions appreciate her tireless and effective efforts.

Any parent would be proud to have a child like one of these successful Christian attorneys. Any church would be happy to have one of these faithful Christian attorneys as a member of their congregation. And this is hardly the tip of the proverbial ice berg. There are many other Christian attorneys who need our prayers, support and encouragement. This is a profession where Christians can practice their faith and serve the God of love with love for mankind.
